Getting to Gili Trawangan is easy by sea and air. Several speed boats run daily from Bali to Gili Trawangan, with the journey taking around 2 hours. Flights can be booked to Lombok from Bali, Jakarta, Surabaya and direct international flights from Singapore and Kuala Lumpur.

Once you are on the island, it less than a 5 minute walk to Broken Compass from the harbour. But if you have heavy bags you might want to hire a horse cart or “cidomo”  to bring you to Broken Compass as there is no motorised transport on the island. Cidomos cost approx 50,000 RP and are readily available at the harbour.

Fast Boat

If you are coming by fast boat from Bali, there are many boats leaving from either Padangbai or Serangan and most will provide transport from your hotel in Bali to the harbour. You can buy tickets online or at any tourist information in Bali.

Plane & Public Boat

If you are flying into Lombok, the most economical way to Gili Trawangan is to take a taxi from the airport to Bangsal harbour (approx 1.5 hours and 300,000 RP). Once in Bangsal you can purchase a boat ticket (Rp 15,000 per person) to Gili Trawangan. Boats leave frequently throughout the day, and the last boat is around 16.30. Beware of touts who will tell you that you will have to wait hours for a public boat and will overcharge you for a speed boat. Always make sure you go to the main ticket office, which is right in front of the harbour. You could also charter a private speed boat from the harbour which will cost around 350,000 RP.
